# Work in serial, not in parallel In general, I know that I'm best working on one thing at a time. In [[User Guide for Jess Martin]], I describe this as "simultaneous in-flight initiatives": ![[User Guide for Jess Martin#^14c769]] Granted, I'm already splitting my days between two large initiatives: [[Educating my children]], aka Homeschooling, and Future of Computing research for Fission. Splitting further would seem unwise. To that end, I should seek to focus my Future of Computing research on a single, serial initiative at a time. I'll need to attach specific milestones to each one to allow me to find a rhythm rotating between initiatives.
