Limitations on the nature of the computing material

Some known limitations of the "nature of the material" of computing:

  • speed of light (info transfer speed limit)
  • size of an atom (smallest size we can make a thing?)
  • info processing speed of human sight, hearing, touch (throughput to the human)
  • human typing / speaking (input - throughput from the human)
  • human working memory
  • human field of view / think only one thing at a time (human bandwidth limitation)
  • human ontologies never 100% converge (ideas represented in the computer can never be identically replicated between humans)
