# Limitations on the nature of the computing material [Tweet](https://twitter.com/jessmartin/status/1570778146965975044) Some known limitations of the "nature of the material" of computing: - speed of light (info transfer speed limit) - size of an atom (smallest size we can make a thing?) - info processing speed of human sight, hearing, touch (throughput to the human) - human typing / speaking (input - throughput from the human) - human working memory - human field of view / think only one thing at a time (human bandwidth limitation) - human ontologies never 100% converge (ideas represented in the computer can never be identically replicated between humans)
