Craig Mod, whose membership program I've written about before (see Notes on Craigmod's Running a Successful Membership Subscription Program and Notes on Memberships Work), uses pop-up newsletters to focus his output for a specific period of time and provide a bit of accountability.
This strategy could be effective for me as well, since I don't do particularly well with consistent, long-term daily habits, but tend to work best in sprints towards a deadline. Short bursts, punctuated by periods of inactivity, rest, and change.
I should try this out with my own research, specifically bursts around specific deliverables or Provocations that I want to ship.
